Thank you Jerry
Jerry Rothstein has meant so much to the Community Reporter (some might say WAS the Community Reporter) and our community for so long – he has been involved for over a quarter of the life of the paper. His passion for and commitment to the West End is something I can only aspire to as the editor of our local news source.
I can only say thank you, Jerry, for continuing to share your wit, wisdom, insight and passion for this paper and this community. I only hope I can live up to a small portion of the example you’ve set.
To celebrate Jerry’s time with the Community Reporter, some past and present members of our Board of Directors wanted to share some remembrances.
~Damian Goebel, Editor
“Shortly after meeting Jerry it became clear to me that he was a community leader. He was interested and wanted to be involved in anything happening in the West End community. Jerry was always looking out for the West End as he provided important and practical feedback for projects in the community. As the editor of the Community Reporter, he poured his heart and soul into the paper. He understood the importance and potential impact of local news. He kept his pulse on the neighborhood as the editor and was often exploring new places and organizations in the West End. His efforts allowed the Community Reporter to not only survive, but flourish as other local papers shut down their operations. We are forever thankful to Jerry for how he fostered community engagement and kept the West End informed. We appreciate your leadership and wish you the best in retirement.”
~ Jonathan Dickman, Community Reporter Board Chair
“Jerry, thanks for all your years of work at the CR, bringing it color!, sometimes 12 pages!, and getting it online! Thanks for your vision of this community paper and your work for all of us in the community.”
~ Julie Borgerding July
“Jerry is a man of perseverance and deep intellect, with a quick humor and kind heart, who is always immensely generous to his community.”

Around the same time, Jerry decided to give up the editorship of the paper and focus on the administrative side of the business.
