Forepaugh’s Restaurant has reopened

After years of sitting vacant, followed by an extensive renovation to the property, Forepaugh’s Restaurant at 276 Exchange St., has reopened.

The historic mansion was completed in 1871. It operated as a restaurant from 1976-2019, when it closed abruptly following the sudden death of their executive chef and wasn’t reopened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, owner Bruce Taher began plans to renovate the historic building, which included replacing a decaying porch, major structural repairs to the foundation and, most apparently, painting the building a period in accurate grays and blacks.

Now that it has reopened, the West End fine dining staple features an all new menu by James Beard Award winning Chef Tim McKee, including a more casual bar menu, and new outdoor seating options.
