City Council approves bike plan updates

The St. Paul City Council approved an update to the City’s 2015 bike plan April 24.

The update calls for over 160 miles of new, protected bikeways to be built throughout the city in the next 15 years, increasing the city’s goal to 335 bike lane miles by 2040.

While approval of the plan does not allocate funding for any specific projects, the plan calls for several funding sources to be explored, including the City’s Capital Improvement Budget Process and external grants.

Since adoption of the City’s initial bicycle plan in 2015, 59 miles of bike lanes, including the portions of the planned St. Paul Grand Rounds, the Capital City Bikeway and within the Highland Bridge Development.
