Safe Summer Nights
The Safe Summer Nights program is designed to provide opportunities for police officers to become acquainted with residents of the neighborhoods they serve over a meal rather than during times of trouble. The initiative began in 2014 when Safe Summer Nights partnered with the St. Paul Police Department and St. Paul Parks & Recreation to host events in St. Paul that brought neighborhood families and police officers together in a picnic-type setting. Safe Summer Nights helps bridge the gap between police and the people they serve.
Events are free, and feature community barbecue and family activities. Thursdays, 5pm-7pm: July 11: MLK Recreation Center; July 18: Conway Community Center; July 25: Parque Castillo; Aug 1: Hamline Park; Aug 8: Arlington Hills Community Center; Aug 15: Palace Community Center.
