Out Loud at the Library: Explore spoken word, songwriting and poetry at free events this May

St. Paul Public Library (SPPL) is partnering with COMPAS and local artists Desdamona, Kashimana Ahua, Kyle Tran Myhre and Sun Yung Shin to lead free, interactive workshops on Wednesday evenings from 6-7 p.m. in May at George Latimer Central Library, 90 4th Street West. Participants will share stories, build skills and explore new ways of expression through poetry and performance in a fun and supportive space. All experience levels are welcome!

Discover the power of spoken word poetry with Desdamona and Kyle Tran Myhre, grow your poetic writing skills with Sun Yung Shin, and explore the tools of lyric writing with Kashimana.

The program series ends on the final Wednesday of the month with an open mic night where participants from the workshops can celebrate and share their work with one another. Everyone is welcome to attend the participants’ performances.

Out Loud at the Library events, supported by funding from The Friends of the St. Paul Public Library, are free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged, but not required.
