Mueller has guided History Theatre since 2010, overseeing a period of organizational growth, expanded statewide programming and financial stability. Theater leaders credited her with building strategic reserves that helped the organization navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthening community partnerships.

Thomas brings more than two decades of nonprofit leadership and fundraising experience. During his tenure as development director, he helped expand donor support and secure funding for productions and educational programs.

Board President Jon Thomas said Rob Thomas’ familiarity with the organization’s mission, supporters and operations made him the ideal successor.

History Theatre plans to recognize Mueller’s contributions during its annual benefit event June 25.

Founded in 1978, History Theatre is known for producing original works that explore Minnesota history and the broader American experience. The organization is one of St. Paul’s leading arts institutions and a key contributor to the city’s cultural district.
