The store, located at 957 West 7th, specializes in unique gifts and artist made items. They are closed indefinitely while repairs to the ceiling are being made.

Buchanan said she came back to the store after running an errand to find a contractor holding up part of the tin ceiling while making repairs to a sagging piece. Knowing the situation was dire, she and another contractor sprang into action to save as much of the inventory as possible.

“We were able to race as fast as we could to move the breakables,” Buchanan said.

After St. Paul Fire units responded and instructed the contractor to let go of the piece of ceiling, the long sheets of tin collapsed, filling the space with dust and debris.

Buchanan said there was no major damage to any of their items and no one was injured in the collapse.

a GoFundMe was started to help support the shop while they make the space usable again. According to Buchanan, there is no timeline for completing repairs yet, but it could be several more weeks before they re-open their doors to the public.

The timing of the collapse hit Buchanan and the store especially hard as she had just sub-leased space to several new vendors in the past few months.

“”The GoFundMe is a huge help,” she said. “There are several vendors who rely on me completely for income.”
