W7/FRF Releases “We Live Here” results

The West 7th/Fort Road Federation released the results from a community conversation they hosted on June 4 at CSPS Hall.

The report, titled “We Live Here,” lays out what the Federation says are their core values, especially as it relates to the Riverview Corridor and future transportation projects.

The event hosted around 50 members of the West 7th community, from homeowners to renters, business owners to elected officials (see Councilmember Noeckers review of the event in this issue).

The Federation consolidated the conversations that evening into eight key themes: Bike and Pedestrian, Historic Preservation & Neighborhood Uniqueness, Small/Local Business, Affordable Housing, Parking, Current Public Transit Options, Trees, Parks, and Greenspace and other topics.

From each theme, a handful for main values were determined from input at the event, which you can see below.

Bike and Pedestrian

  • Clean, well-lit, safe transit shelters
  • Pedestrian safety to and from transit
  • Reliable, transit that connects our neighborhood vs. segregating portions

  • Beautification: trees, planters, medians, litter clean up

  • The opportunity to convert the CP Spur into a multi-use path
