Several St. Paul organizations are among the recipients of nearly $277,000 in statewide grants awarded to preserve Minnesota history through the Minnesota Historical Society.
The latest round of Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Small Grants will distribute $276,946 to 20 projects across 17 counties. In St. Paul, Lowertown Arts received nearly $20,000 to assess the condition of a historic building at 255 Kellogg Blvd. E, part of the Lowertown Historic District.
The Ramsey County Historical Society also received funding to develop and install an exhibit focused on the Hmong community in Ramsey County, highlighting the cultural contributions of one of the city’s largest immigrant populations.
Funded through the Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, the grants support projects that preserve historical records, maintain historic structures and expand public access to cultural resources.
For St. Paul residents, the funding supports ongoing efforts to document neighborhood history and enhance cultural institutions, particularly in downtown and Lowertown, where historic preservation plays a key role in redevelopment and tourism.
Grants are awarded quarterly, with the next application deadlines set for April 10 and July 10.
