Harriet Island Long-Range Planning

St. Paul Seeks Public Input on Harriet Island Long-Range Plan

St. Paul officials are asking residents to help shape the future of Harriet Island Regional Park through a new long-range planning process that will guide park improvements over the next two to three decades.

The city said the popular Mississippi River park has not received a comprehensive long-range update in more than 30 years. The effort aims to gather feedback on park usage, future amenities and ways to attract additional visitors while preserving the park’s historical and cultural significance.

Located on the West Side riverfront, Harriet Island hosts festivals, concerts and community events throughout the year and serves as one of St. Paul’s signature public spaces.

The planning process includes community engagement sessions, surveys and analysis of how the park is currently used. Officials said the final plan will help guide future investments and programming decisions for the regional park.

The project timeline calls for draft recommendations to be developed through spring 2026, with revisions and formal approval expected between October 2026 and January 2027.
