Calmera Massage on Grand is bringing a different kind of wellness experience to Grand Avenue, combining massage therapy, advanced skin care and a Japanese-inspired head spa designed around relaxation.
Owner Abraham Garcia opened the business at 752 Grand Ave. in January, with a mission he summarizes simply: “Mental health for the community.”
That goal shapes Calmera’s emphasis on creating a place where customers can disconnect from the demands of everyday life. The business offers restorative body massage, advanced facial care and what Garcia says is the only head spa currently operating on Grand Avenue.
“Relaxation & skincare!” Garcia said of the business. “We are the only Headspa on Grand Ave and we offer various sensory treatments as well as advanced skin care.”
Calmera’s Serene Japanese HeadSpa is built around scalp care and relaxation, incorporating treatments such as water therapy, massage and aromatherapy. The spa’s marketing focuses especially on customers who spend much of their time caring for others and may have trouble setting aside time for themselves.
Its broader message — “Welcome to Your Calm Era” — reflects Garcia’s vision of making self-care about more than an occasional luxury. Calmera says its treatments are intended to help guests feel “lighter, calmer and more confident,” with services structured around quiet, restorative experiences.
The business also offers advanced facials and restorative massage, allowing customers to choose services centered on skin care, muscle tension or overall relaxation. Calmera’s website currently offers new clients $10 off their first head spa, facial or massage. It also advertises a promotion in which customers can purchase a $270 gift card for $300 in spa value, although promotions may change.
For Garcia, Grand Avenue was a natural home for the concept.
“I love that Grand Ave is known for having high end businesses that provide great experiences!” he said.
Calmera is seeking to add its own version of that experience — one centered on slowing down.
