2019 STAR Program to distribute $2.5 million in loans, grants for capital improvement projects
Applications for the 2019 Neighborhood Sales Tax Revitalization (STAR) Program are being accepted until March 21.
The STAR program provides grants and loans for capital improvement projects in St. Paul with the goal of strengthening neighborhoods by addressing problems, needs or opportunities in the community.
After a complete review by the Neighborhood STAR board, funding recommendations will be made to the Mayor and City Council. City Council will then vote on the final funding decisions in July.
Neighborhood STAR is funded with 50 percent of the city’s half-cent sales tax proceeds, which this year totals $2.5 million. Of that $2.5 million in funding, the City aims to grant 40 percent and loan 60 percent. For more information on program guidelines or to apply for a grant or loan, visit stpaul.gov/neighborhoodstar.
