Will Steger: The Expedition Gear That Made the Impossible Possible

Join famed polar explorer Will Steger and expedition veteran Julie Hignall for an inside look at the specialized gear that made historic Arctic and Antarctic expeditions possible. The presentation examines how sleds, navigation tools, tents, clothing systems and cooking equipment functioned in some of the harshest conditions on Earth. Steger will share stories from his record-setting expeditions while displaying actual gear used during his travels across polar ice. Organizers say the event offers audiences a rare hands-on opportunity to better understand the realities of extreme-environment exploration and the innovations required to survive in shifting sea ice and dangerous weather conditions.
