Ramsey County has opened a new Public Health Center in Maplewood, consolidating services including immunizations, reproductive health care and tuberculosis treatment in a modernized facility.
County officials, community partners and staff marked the opening Aug. 13 at 1850 Beam Ave. The center houses immunizations, sexual and reproductive health services, HIV prevention and support and tuberculosis screening and treatment.
County officials said the redesigned facility is intended to improve privacy, convenience and testing capabilities. It includes more private waiting areas, space for patients waiting after submitting laboratory samples and on-site testing intended to speed results.
The facility also includes additional tuberculosis clinic rooms designed with airflow precautions because tuberculosis spreads through the air.
Among the programs housed at the center is Clinic 555, which provides sexual and reproductive health care for adults and teens, including contraception, gynecological exams and sexually transmitted infection screening. The center also offers affordable immunizations for people who are uninsured, underinsured or face other barriers to vaccination. Its tuberculosis clinic provides screening and treatment.
The new location is near Metro Transit’s Maplewood Station and the Ramsey County Service Center, allowing patients who need other county services to reach both facilities during a single trip. Free parking is also available.
The Public Health Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Hours for individual clinics vary, and some offer evening appointments.
