Ramsey County is looking for residents interested in serving on advisory boards and committees that help shape decisions on libraries, capital projects, watershed management and county government.
Applications for the current round of openings are due at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 13.
The Capital Improvement Program Advisory Committee has five vacancies. The committee, which can include up to 14 residents appointed by the County Board, reviews proposed capital improvement projects and makes recommendations to commissioners.
Two upcoming vacancies are available on the Ramsey County Extension Committee, which works with programs involving agriculture, horticulture, home economics and 4-H. The Ramsey County Library Board also has two upcoming vacancies, with applicants required to live in County Board districts 1, 2 or 7.
Watershed boards are also seeking members. The Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District has one upcoming vacancy for a resident within the district, which covers parts of several communities, including St. Paul and Maplewood. A separate vacancy is listed for the Rice Creek Watershed District.
The Ramsey County Charter Commission has openings representing districts 4 and 5. The 17-member commission periodically reviews the county’s Home Rule Charter and can recommend amendments or submit proposed changes to voters. Ramsey County is Minnesota’s only home-rule county.
Eligibility requirements vary by board, and some positions require applicants to live within a particular district or geographic area.
