The City of St. Paul’s Right Track youth employment program has launched its 2026 employer engagement campaign, aiming to expand paid internship opportunities for local youth while recognizing outstanding employer partners.
The campaign, titled “Right Track 200 – Building St. Paul’s Future Workforce,” seeks commitments from at least 200 employers to provide paid internships for St. Paul residents. Right Track serves young people ages 14 to 21, prioritizing those from cost-burdened households or who face barriers to employment.
Last year, more than 1,000 youth participated in internships across a range of industries. Mayor Melvin Carter said the program connects young people to real-world career experiences while strengthening community partnerships.
Employers interested in hosting interns for summer 2026 are encouraged to apply by Feb. 6. Youth applications for internships will open in February.
As part of the announcement, Right Track named the Minnesota Department of Administration’s Facilities Management Division as its 2025 Employer of the Year. The program also recognized individual supervisors for their mentorship and support of interns, including leaders from the Metropolitan Airport Commission, Ramsey County and St. Paul Parks and Recreation.
Program officials said the campaign supports workforce development and economic equity by helping young people gain skills and experience early in their careers.
