Good Things Celebrates Expanded Space
Good Things, the gift shop located at 1082 Grand Ave, celebrated their newly expanded space on October 9.
“Our goal here is simply to grow our community by revitalizing this gorgeous space,” said Tyler Conrad, Good Things owner.
Conrad said that his family’s first foray into expanding Good Things was, in part, to help revitalize his hometown of White Bear Lake over 30 years ago. Now they occupy four buildings in downtown White Bear and are hoping to have a similar positive impact along Grand Avenue.
“That was the reason we expanded, to bring more people into town for all of us to enjoy and in this community. That’s what we’re doing here today,” he said. “We’re just so proud to bring this energy, this connection, in the spirit of community to Grand Avenue.”
The expansion, which included the former Wuollet Bakery site on Grand, added an additional 1800 square feet to the store. A portion of the exterior improvements we paid as part of the City of St. Paul’s Commercial Corridors program administered on Grand by the Grand Avenue Business Association.
“It’s a beautiful expansion,” said Mayor Melvin Carter. “We are certainly proud as a city to be able to partner with GABA, to chip in and help do the exterior of the building.”
Started in 1973 as a small clothing retailer, Good Things has grown to include a selection of kitchen gadgets, gourmet food, home accents, kids clothing, unique gifts and more across five locations.
They have been in their current location on Grand Avenue since 2019 when they merged with the Bibelot Shops, who was a long-time tenant in the same location.
Tyler was excited to be through the renovations and to share their new storefront, but also for the future of St. Paul.
“We’re excited for Grand Avenue, St. Paul and for more good things to come,” he said.
