We invite you to help support our Youth Writing Program in the Community Reporter with a donation or with an ad. 

For the last 14 years, the Community Reporter has partnered with the following area schools to provide writing opportunities for neighborhood students:   

  • Monroe Community School
  • Saint Francis-Saint James United
  • Saint Paul Open
  • Adams Spanish Immersion
  • Four Seasons A+
  • Nova Classical Academy

Our projects for the 2009-2010 school year include:

  • October issue:  Open submissions. For any grade, deadline early September
  • November issue:  I Am Thankful. For grades 2-8, deadline early October
  • December issue:  Seasonal/Holiday Traditions. For grades 2-8, deadline early November
  • January issue:  My New Year's Wishes. For grades 2-8, deadline early December
  • February issue:  Open submissions. For any grade, deadline early January
  • March issue:  Open submissions. For any grade, deadline early February
  • April issue: Peace & Environment Essays. For any grade, deadline early March  
  • May issue:  Poetry Contest. For grades 3-8, deadline early April
  • June issue: Junior High & Senior High School Essays. On any subject, deadline early May

Youth Reporter Internships
We offer youth reporter internships for junior and senior high school students. Your people have the opportunity to learn the elements of good reporting through research and interviews.
