Not since 1946 when records of these things were kept on the St. Paul Fire Department has the city experienced zero fire fatalities for an entire year until now.

“This is phenomenal tribute to the courage and skill of the men and women of the St. Paul Fire Department, and the knowledge and ability of the inspectors in the Department of Safety and Inspections,” acknowledged St. Paul Fire Chief Tim Butler. “Achieving this level of fire and life safety is a system-wide effort performed by many people working together. Inspectors, educators, firefighters, paramedics, and policy-makers all play a role in keeping citizens safe and making St. Paul the Most Livable City in America.”
